Early Childhood

Preschool Playhouse

Your child’s first exposure to school should be one of wonder, excitement, discovery, and fun.  As a first introduction to school, two-and-a-half year olds joyfully enter the classroom eager to explore, play, and create.  Friendships begin to form as parallel play gradually becomes more cooperative with teacher guidance.  Play is paramount at this age for young minds to discover how things work, learn new vocabulary, role play, and explore the world beyond their families.
At CDS, our youngest students participate in visual arts, physical education, and performing arts classes.  They learn through thematic studies, story time, crafts, and messy play.  Time is spent outside on our fully fenced playground designed with preschoolers in mind.  Students also enjoy having a snack and lunch daily at school, which are wonderful times to socialize with peers. A healthy snack is provided, and lunch can either be brought from home or pre-ordered through our FLIK dining service.

Children must turn two years old by March 31st  for September enrollment. We accept children in diapers (provided by parents) and will assist in potty training.
"Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children, play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood."
