Thank you for your interest in Chatham Day School. Please use the steps outlined below to find out more about the school and to help with the application process.

  • Step 1 - Tour CDS

    The best way to learn more about Chatham Day School is through a private tour. You will be able to see our classes in action, meet our teachers, and view our beautiful campus.

    Please call the Office of Admission at 973.410.0400 ext. 15 to schedule a tour.
  • Step 2 - Submit an Application & Supporting Documents

    Chatham Day School accepts online applications only.  Please click the link to the right to apply.  You will also need to provide your child's current school with the teacher recommendation form and transcript release form found on the right.
  • Step 3 - Visit CDS

    Once the Office of Admission receives the application, the Director of Admission and Financial Aid will contact you to schedule an admission visit.  Students applying for preschool playhouse will be invited to attend a Toddler Class with a caregiver.  Students applying for preschool and prekindergarten attend a one-hour playdate, and parents are welcome to stay on campus for this visit.  Students applying for kindergarten will visit with the prekindergarten for the morning session (8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.).  Students applying for grades 1-8 will visit for the entire school day (8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.).  Students applying for grades 6-8 will also be required to complete an admission assessment during their visit.
  • Step 4 - Decision Notification

    Once complete, applicant files will be reviewed by the Admission Committee. Admission decisions will be mailed in early March.
    Applicatons are now being accepted on a rolling basis for the 2017-2018 school year. 
    Students are frequently enrolled mid-year when spaces are available.
