Annual Fund

List of 7 frequently asked questions.

  • Q: What is The Green & White Annual Fund?

The Green & White Annual Fund is a vital source of unrestricted annual financial support that impacts every part of the educational experience at CDS. A robust Annual Fund supports faculty members' professional development; it enhances our signature programs; it ensures that CDS remains on the leading edge of technological innovation; it provides unrestricted resources to build our programs in athletics and the arts; and caring for our school facilities and beautiful campus; and, it allows students who would otherwise not be able to afford an independent school education to attend Chatham Day School.
  • Q: Why Should I Support It?

Because every child benefits from the programs provided by The Green & White Annual Fund, every member of the community is asked to support it. Participation, no matter the gift size, is important because it builds a strong and critical base of donors, and a momentum that inspires others to give. Those in each constituency, parents, alumni parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends, are more likely to make a gift if a significant number of their peers are contributing.

Early in the School’s growth, the Board of Trustees and CDS faculty, administration, and staff recognized the importance of full participation and every year for the past 15 years have proudly achieved 100% participation.
  • Q: Where Does the Money Go?

The financial goal for the 2016-2017 The Green & White Annual Fund is $190,000 which will, combined with our event revenues, cover nearly 10% of the School's operating budget. Your support of The Green & White Annual Fund at the greatest level you are able is critical to the school’s operations and ultimately, each child’s ability to reach his or her full potential.
  • Q: Why Isn't Tuition Enough?

While tuition provides for a large portion of the school’s operations, it does not cover everything. Gifts to the Chatham Day School The Green & White Annual Fund from parents, alumni parents, alumni, grandparents, and friends may vary in size but not in impact as each gift cumulatively helps us achieve our goals. While a majority of our gifts come from individuals, support from local corporations through matching gifts and employee-initiated grant applications, and from private foundations through proposal submission, provides additional critical funding for our programs.
  • Q: What are Leadership Gifts?

Giving at this level ensures a robust annual fund foundation on which Chatham Day School’s programs can be built. A special reception is held for donors who are in our Leadership Circle.
