Dear CDS Parents,
I know it doesn’t seem possible but we have reached summer’s halfway point and another school year is right around the corner. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer break with plenty of backyard BBQ's, relaxing vacations and family time spent with loved ones. There’s a few weeks to go so get out there and enjoy what’s left of summertime!
Once all of the summer festivities come to an end we look forward to a brand new school year with lots of exciting upcoming events. When I was little, I always looked forward to a new school year with a sense of anticipation, excitement and a little nervousness. What would my new teacher be like? How many new friends would I make? What new adventures lie ahead? For me, it was a time of endless possibilities. This new school year brings back some of those great memories as this is my first year as President of the Parents’ Association at CDS. I’m excited for this new opportunity and look forward to the things we can accomplish together to make this a great school year for our children.
For those who are wondering, the Parents’ Association’s mission is to support CDS students, teachers and administrators by building an involved and engaged community of parents. Throughout the year, we host several events to help build relationships between CDS families and the school. Family Fun Nights, Movie Nights and our annual Gala are just a few of the events we hope you and your family will attend. They are fun and a great way to meet other CDS families as we all work together to grow our amazing CDS community spirit.
The best way to get involved in the PA is to volunteer your time, help or expertise for any of the many events the PA holds during the year. All parents are welcomed (and encouraged) to volunteer for any events that fit into your schedule. As a working mom myself, I understand all the time demands we face as parents of school age children so future volunteers already have my deep appreciation. Please take a moment to review and return our PA Volunteer Sheet.
The PA will be hosting a Welcome Back Coffee on Tuesday, September 4 at 8:30a after drop off in the dining hall, a Wine & Cheese reception during Back to School Night(s) on Thursday, September 6 (Early Childhood and Lower School) and Thursday, September 13 (Middle School and Upper School) At these receptions, we will have volunteer sign-up sheets available along with PA representatives to answer any questions you may have.
I look forward to meeting and working with all CDS parents to help strengthen the bonds that make Chatham Day School such a special environment for our children.
